IAM Board Prez Featured in World
IAM's President of the Board, David Kiersznowski, was featured in a recent World Magazine article. For an excerpt of the article, click here. The piece, by Susan Olasky, explores the unique, rehumanizing business model Kiersznowski and his bride, Demi, have employed at the wholesale gift company they co-founded ten years ago, Demdaco. Olasky writes, "(Kiersznowski's) concern for living out what he calls 'an integral life' led to changes. He began to think about the physical space where employees spend so much time and decided that the new headquarters should be 'a place that's beautiful, creative, pleasing, and full of light.'"
International Arts Movement congratulates David and Demi for this recognition, and hope that many others will follow their commitment to bringing more beauty and life into the business sphere.

Feature-film Production Grants
San Francisco, CA - October 15, 2008 -In its continuing effort to promote original filmmaking by individuals from around the world, the Global Film Initiative is pleased to announce the Winter 2009 cycle of its feature-film production grants program.
The Global Film Initiative production grants are awarded twice a year, in Winter and Summer, to filmmakers whose work exhibits artistic excellence, authentic self-representation and accomplished storytelling, while contributing to the development of local film industries and offering audiences a variety of cultural perspectives on daily life around the world. Monies received through GFI's granting program are used to support completion of film production, and to subsidize post-production costs, such as laboratory and sound mixing fees and access to modern editing systems.
This year, the Global Film Initiative will award production grants of up to $10,000 each to select applicants during its Winter granting cycle. These funds are made available following the Initiative's evaluation of an applicant's completed screenplay and early film-footage, and may be accompanied by a pre-sale option for exclusive U.S. distribution of an applicant's film by the Global Film Initiative. Individuals may submit more than one film for consideration per granting cycle but please note that only applications from qualifying countries or regions will be considered and that production grants are not available for documentary or short films.*
The Global Film Initiative strongly believes in supporting narrative storytelling traditions from around the world and invites all qualified applicants to submit their work for granting consideration. For Applications & Guidelines, click here.

IAM Member Samuel W. Kho Named Curator of ATP Gallery
IAM congratulates Samuel W. Kho for his appointment as Director and Curator of the All Things Project Gallery (Neighborhood Church of Greenwich Village), located on Bleecker Street. As a graduate student in the Art Market at Fashion Institute of Technology - SUNY, Sam was curator in 2006 of the very idiosyncratic Breaking the Skin, an exhibition sponsored by IAM and the All Things Project at NCGV.
Sam likes to share his thoughts about contemporary art, and occasionally does so through writing (he currently has two articles in The Curator, IAM's online publication - see http://www.curatormagazine.com/samkho).
He has had many interesting art-related roles. He helped open the first U.S. gallery for a major Asian art firm. More recently, Sam happily co-directed a Los Angeles project space (un)known for launching a young art star or two.
To him, art, like life, is perhaps like cactus: it ought to be thorny just as it can be beautiful.
Sam joins the project this month and we look forward to a series of thoughtful shows under Sam’s direction beginning in January 2009.
The appointment was made possible by a generous matching grant from the Mustard Seed Foundation.
