Heartland Film Festival 2009

The Heartland Film Festival is 18 years old and is based in Indianapolis, Indiana, USA. They honor filmmakers whose work explores the human journey by artistically expressing hope and respect for the positive values of life. They also have some of the largest cash prizes in the world – dramatic features receive cash prizes of $7,500 each, payable to the filmmaker, and are in the running for the $100,000 Grand Prize.  Documentary features receive cash prizes of $5,000 each, payable to the filmmaker, and are in the running for the $25,000 prize for Best Documentary and last, but not least, shorts receives $2500, and the Vision Award for Best Short is $10,000.

The creators of the Heartland Film Festival have a passion and belief in honoring independent filmmakers and helping them to go on and make more wonderful films that will touch lives. The encouragement is what it's all about for these guys, and the money is the icing on the cake for the filmmakers.
