Hope Revolution Walk Oct. 3
Children throughout Cambodia and Southeast Asia are suffering from an epidemic, an epidemic of poverty and abuse. Girls as young as five years old are being sold into prostitution by family or friends overwhelmed by poverty. These girls are victimized over and over, without a voice, a defender, a means of salvation. The very worst of humanity preys on the innocence of these young girls. The New Song Project of the Ratanak Foundation seeks to give hope to the children lost to the sex trafficking in Cambodia. Girls are rescued from brothels by trained caregivers and taken to a safe haven where they learn to heal and again build a life. The Ratanak Foundation is committed to bringing life to the killing fields of Cambodia. We ask for your help in bringing a revolution of hope to a world of despair.
On Saturday October 3, 2009 walkers will be gathering in Brooklyn, NY at Dyker Beach Golf Course as a part of the Hope Revolution, the first annual walk to benefit New Song Project, an outreach of the Ratanak Foundation. Walkers will gather at 8:30 am and begin their five, ten, or fifteen mile trek through Brooklyn, along the shoreline to Coney Island.
IAM Artist Fleur de Lee Antique Reproduction Jewelry is partnering with the Ratanak Foundation to make this special event possible.
All funds raised will be used by the New Song Project to rescue the girls sold into prostitution throughout Cambodia. More information about the Ratanak Foundation and the New Song Project can be found here. (You may also make a secure, tax-deductible donation here.)
