From IAM'er Paul Anel, Art Director
Heart's Home USA
There comes our Art Discussion #4 ! Last time we heard inspiring testimonies by painters, pianists, actors, directors, poets... talking about their Masters and how they helped them grow in their art and lives. Our upcoming Discussion will dwell on another element essential to understand better the mission of the artist: his relationship to the audience.

"As an artist, is it possible to work without hoping that my work will touch someone else's heart? Yet how to fulfill this task without falling into the trap of trying to "please" the audience... and the market! Faithfulness to oneself intertwines with - and sometimes confronts - the inner sense of a responsibility towards the audience... Yet if "beauty will save the world", as Dostoïevsky baldly stated it, how not to generously share with others what is so life-giving to us?
To further our reflecion on this topic, please have a look at the attached pdf file: a short - yet how inspiring! - text by the great Russian director Andrey Tarkovsky who tells us about his own relationship to the audience, and how vital it is to him as an artist, not so much to be "acclaimed" by the critics or the masses, but rather "to touch (some) people's hearts"...
This event will be kindly hosted by Michelle Mariaud, whose homelike "Living with Art" Gallery in Soho is indeed the perfect setting for our discussion, since our desire is precisely to understand better the meaning of art in relation to the whole of life...
Our meeting will take place from 2 to 4 pm on Sunday, March 15.
The address is: Living With Art Gallery, 153 Lafayette Street, 7th floor

NB: As the elevator is not working on Sundays, be prepared to have a little exercise walking up the stairs when you get there: this too is part of life!
All are welcome!
