Discover Hidden Treasures with Redeemer's Culture Club
This arts "season" (ministry year 2009-10) the Culture Club will be focusing on the "little known arts treasures" of New York City. We've all heard of the Metropolitan Museum and Broadway, but what about the Frick Collection? Atlantic Theater Company? New Chamber Ballet? This will be the year to discover many important arts institutions our city holds.
Our first outing together will be Friday, October 2, from 6PM-8PM. We'll visit the , which "houses a treasure trove of materials relating to the founding of our country, the history of art in America, and the history of New York and its people." Redeemer artist Gene Schmidt is a preparator at N-YHS, and will be our host for an evening tour of their current exhibition, , a collection of more than 100 landscape paintings from the Hudson River School movement of the 19th century, "the first school of truly American art to garner worldwide recognition and fame."
The museum's Friday evening hours are "pay what you wish," so don't let tight finances prevent you from joining us! (As a patron of the arts, we suggest you contribute as much as you're able - regular admission is only $12.) For that reason, we will pay at the door for our tickets, but space in our group is limited so registration is required. Register and more information .

Learning the Languages of Love and Forgiveness
Based on G. Chapman’s books “The Five Love Languages” and “The Five Languages of Apology”
Real life involves real people who make real mistakes. Sometimes saying, “I’m sorry” just isn’t enough. The need for apologies impacts all human relationships. Furthermore, being single or married has nothing to do with whether you need to feel loved. Everyone has a God-given desire for complete and unconditional love in all relationships. Understanding and applying the five love languages and the five languages of apology will enhance all relationships.
- Sept 16- Expressing Regret, Accepting Responsibility and Making Restitution (Steve Slack and Amira Harb)
- Sept 23- Genuinely Repenting, Requesting and Learning Forgiveness, and the Test (Dee Rivera and Eric Henderson)
