October 1: Fanny Crosby Returns to The Bowery Mission
Actress Ann Nelson and musician Tim Mercaldo recreate the life of a blind woman who became America’s most prolific and beloved hymnwriter

October 8: A Night of Bowery Stories, Poetry & Art
With Eric Ferrara, founder of The Lower East Side History Project; Bob Holman, founder of The Bowery Poetry Club; and the opening of “Now & Then: Photography of the Bowery” by local artists

October 15: Film Screening: “On the Bowery”
Long before reality TV, this 1957 documentary showed life on America’s most notorious street. Presented by the son of writer-director Lionel Rogosin

October 22 : Photos and Hymns on the Bowery: Jacob Riis and Fanny Crosby
Riis and Crosby used art to change people’s lives. Multi-media presentation by Tony Carnes (Christianity Today) and Crosby’s biographer, Edith Blumhofer (Wheaton College)

October 29: Film Screening: “Slumming It”
New York filmmaker Scott Elliott presents his 2002 documentary exploring the Bowery as it enters the 21st Century
