International Arts Movement gears up for 2007 Conference
February 22nd to 24th, 2007

(New York City, NY) – “IAM conferences are the best venue I know of where artists immersed in everyday life can reflect on God and human flourishing . . .”
- Miroslav Volf, Director of Yale Center for Faith and Culture

Artists and creative professionals from around the world will gather at the Tribeca Performing Arts Center of the Borough of Manhattan Community College for the 2007 Annual International Arts Movement (IAM) Conference. This year's theme "Redemptive Culture: Creating the World that Ought to Be" will explore how to engage culture that is, and ultimately create a world that is good, true & beautiful. With last year's conference a smashing success, IAM strives to foster regional development at this year's event. Patricia Heaton, Emmy-winning actress, Everybody Loves Raymond and presenter at last year's conference comments, "IAM is a great way to meet other artists from around the country and get to know how they are using their gifts..."

The keynote speaker will be musician and theologian, Jeremy Begbie, the Associate Principal of Ridley Hall at University of Cambridge and director of the international research project, "Theology Through the Arts." Famed local New Yorker, Daniel Libeskind, master designer of Ground Zero and the first Cultural Ambassador for Architecture appointed by the U.S. Department of State will speak on “Breaking Ground” and his original architectural plans for the 9/11 World Trade Memorial. Dick Staub, broadcaster, writer and public speaker will moderate the conference. See Rob Mathes in concert, Susie Ibarra, and various other performing artists!

Lectures and workshops will be paired with portfolio salons, medieval mystery plays and much more. Notable speakers also include Karen Goodwin, Executive Broadway Producer of Les Miserables and Miss Saigon; Karin Coonrod, Director with American Repertory Theater; and William Edgar, Department Chair & Professor of Apologetics at Westminster Theological Seminary. Take a tour of Ground Zero with a chaplain from the 9/11 tragedy, see the latest art at the Chelsea galleries tour or the Museum of Biblical Art tours, connect with artists from around the world at the IAM Cafe, and view the conference art exhibition juried by James Elaine (Curator, Hammer Museum of UCLA, CA) and Josie Browne (Director, Max Protetch Gallery in Chelsea, NYC).

International Arts Movement is a 501(c)3 non-profit arts organization that inspires artists and creative catalysts to engage the culture that is, and create the world that ought to be, wrestling with the deep questions of humanity, faith, and culture.
