| Biblical Art in a Secular Century (1896-1993) | Dolores Destefano | Join
us for a special tour of the "Biblical Art in a Secular Century"
Exhibition at the Museum of Biblical Art (affiliated with the American
Bible Society). We will view 30 works that show us regardless of the
artists relationship with the Biblical text, Biblical art is part of
the story of modern art. Group will meet at 1:30pm to commute to the
museum at Columbus Circle together. |

Merrily Kerr, New York based art critic and writer on a walking tour of
Chelsea's contemporary art galleries. Merrily, a contributer to
magazines including Time Out New York, Art on Paper and Flash Art and
the founder of 'Merrily Kerr New York Art Tours,' will lead you
straight to the most talked about art of the moment. Workshop will meet

| Culture and Your Calling | William Edgar | A
biblical basis for cultural calling. We will study the "cultural
mandate" in its various phases. We will offer a gentle critique of
schools of thought which (1) minimize culture or see it as a prelude to
evangelism, and (2) maximize culture as though no redemption were
necessary. How does apologetics inform our cultural calling and the
Lordship of Christ over every realm. Practical examples will be given. |

| What does "Redeeming Culture" mean? | David Hegeman | Join
author of Plowing in Hope: Toward a Biblical Theology of Culture to
discuss a brief overview of the biblical vision of culture in its
protological, soteriological and eschatelogical aspects; an historical
example of redeeming culture; and some lessons for us today. |

Katrina Survivor and the founder of Daylight Magazine a biannual
documentary photography magazine. Topics covered will include: Refugee
resettlement, Victims of Torture/Trafficking, Recovery from Katrina,
federal and faith-based partnerships to deliver social services to
‘the least of these, and the increasing ability of citizens to
represent themselves in the media. |
| Pastor's Roundtable: Creating a Culturally Redemptive Church | Kirk van der Swaagh, Vernon Rainwater, Ian Cron, Matt Heard | How
should the local church be redeeming the culture? What is the church's
relationship to the arts? Does our theology pave the way for an
arts-affirming stance in our worship and practice? How do we love God
while avoiding both worldliness and isolationism? These questions will
be explored by participants and pastors. |

human flourishing as a paradigm for redemption, this workshop will
consider what conditions are necessary for this to come about and how
the arts may contribute to or embody flourishing in a broken world. |

award-winning artist based in NYC. Especially geared to college
students, this workshop looks at the journey of the artist and how it
relates with issues of faith; and is designed to help those who are
considering a professional career in the arts or graduate school. |

| Pastor's Roundtable: Making the Church a Haven to Artists | Vernon Rainwater, Kirk van der Swaagh, Ian Cron, Matt Heard, Sam Andreades | Attendees
will explore various issues involved in how the church can create a
safe haven where artists are affirmed in their God-given talents.
Pastors will discuss how the local church can work together to provide
resources and a home to artists. They will also discuss what keeps many
artists away from the church and how to address the inner life of the
artist. |
